Shape Sort Privacy Policy

No accounts, no ads, no purchases. Gameplay is offline; anonymous gameplay statistics are sent to Google Analytics for Firebase.

Overview

Shape Sort (published on Google Play as "Shape Sort: Brain Puzzle Game", package com.shapesort.game) is a shape-sorting puzzle game. It does not require sign-in, account creation, or any personal information. It contains no advertising and no in-app purchases.

The game itself ships inside the app and is played entirely offline — the puzzles, artwork and all 73 language packs are bundled, and the game screen never loads anything from the internet. The app does hold the Android internet permission, and it uses it for one purpose only: sending anonymous gameplay statistics to Google Analytics for Firebase, described below.

Information The App Stores On Your Device

Shape Sort saves gameplay-only information on your device so you can pick up where you left off:

  • Your current level, the stars earned on levels you have finished, and your coin balance.
  • An in-progress board, so closing the app mid-level does not lose your game.
  • Your daily streak, which days' challenges you have cleared, and the trophies you have earned.
  • Your settings — sound, vibration, and chosen language.

This is stored locally in the app's own storage and is never uploaded. Uninstalling the app deletes it. There is no cloud save and no account, so this information cannot be recovered or transferred to another device.

Analytics: What Is Sent

The app uses Google Analytics for Firebase so we can see which levels people reach and where they stop playing. The events the game sends are the complete list below — nothing else is sent, and every value is a number the game calculated or a short label the game itself defined:

  • level_start and level_complete — the level number, its difficulty settings, your move count, stars earned and coins awarded.
  • challenge_start and challenge_complete — the same, for the daily challenge.
  • daily_reward — the length of your daily streak and the coins it paid.
  • trophy_earned — which trophy was unlocked.
  • first_move — that a first move was made, so we can tell whether new players understand the game.
  • A coarse level band (such as "6-20") so statistics can be grouped by roughly how far in a player is.

There is nowhere in Shape Sort to type anything, so no free text is ever collected. We do not send a name, an email address, an account identifier, or anything you have written.

Analytics: What Firebase Collects Automatically

Separately from the events above, the Firebase SDK automatically collects a standard set of information in order to produce its reports. This includes a randomly generated app instance identifier, your device model and operating system version, your app version, your language setting, and an approximate region derived from your IP address. Google processes the IP address to work out that region and does not store it in our reports.

Shape Sort does not collect the Android advertising ID. Both advertising-identifier permissions that the analytics SDK would normally add are explicitly removed from the app, so the app cannot read that identifier. Nothing collected is used to build an advertising profile, and nothing is sold.

You can stop analytics entirely by uninstalling the app. Google's handling of this data is covered by Firebase's privacy and security terms.

Notifications

Shape Sort can send you one reminder a day so a daily streak you are building does not lapse. This is a local notification scheduled by your own device — there is no push service, no messaging token and no server involved, and no information leaves your device to produce it.

Permission is requested only after you have finished a level, never at launch, and declining it does not affect the game. You can turn reminders off at any time in your Android notification settings.

Permissions

  • Internet and network state — used only to deliver the analytics events listed above.
  • Vibration — the short taps you feel when a shape lifts or lands. It can be switched off in the pause menu.
  • Notifications and run at startup — to show the daily reminder, and to re-arm it after your phone restarts.

The app does not ask for and cannot access your location, contacts, photos, camera, microphone, files, or payment information.

Children's Privacy

Shape Sort is a general-audience game. It does not knowingly collect personal information from children, and it collects no personal information from anyone of any age — the analytics described above are gameplay statistics, not personal data. If you believe a child's personal information has somehow been provided to us, contact puzzlethrone@gmail.com.

Third-Party Services

Shape Sort embeds one third-party SDK: Google Analytics for Firebase. There is no advertising SDK, no crash-reporting service, no session recording, and no social login. This privacy policy is hosted on Puzzle Throne, and visits to this web page may be processed according to Puzzle Throne's website privacy practices. Downloading the app from Google Play is governed by Google's own privacy policy.

Changes

We may update this policy as the app evolves. Shape Sort currently shows no advertising. If a future version adds advertising, in-app purchases, or online features, this page and the Google Play Data Safety section will be updated before that version is released — advertising in particular would reintroduce the advertising identifier that this version deliberately removes. The effective date above indicates when this version took effect.
