Detour Privacy Policy

An offline exploration game. No account, no ads, no tracking — everything stays on your device.

Overview

Detour is a real-world exploration game for Android. It hands you a quest to find somewhere nearby, you photograph your find, and your collection grows in an on-device Trophy Room. The app has no sign-in, no account system, no backend, and works fully offline.

Effective date: July 3, 2026. Contact: puzzlethrone@gmail.com

Information The App Stores

Detour saves gameplay information only on your device: an optional display name you can type during setup, your quest progress (XP, levels, streaks, completed quests), your filter and experience settings, and the photos you take to log finds. Progress is stored in app preferences and photos in the app's private storage. None of it is sent to us — the app has no server to send it to.

Personal Data

Detour does not collect, transmit, sell, or share personal data. The display name is optional, is used only for the in-app greeting, and never leaves your device. The app does not ask for your email address, phone number, contacts, location, or payment information, and it contains no advertising, analytics, or tracking SDKs.

Camera And Photos

Detour requests the camera permission so you can photograph a find as proof. Photos are compressed and saved into the app's private storage on your device. The optional photo check that suggests whether a picture matches the quest runs entirely on your device using a bundled on-device model — images are never uploaded or processed in the cloud. Saving a photo or a photo post to your gallery only happens when you tap Save.

Backups, Exports And Sharing

You can export your Trophy Room as a backup file, a PDF, or a photo post. These files are created on your device and handed to the Android share sheet — they go only where you choose to send them, through apps you choose. We never receive or store a copy. Importing a backup reads the file locally on your device.

Data Deletion

Everything the app stores can be deleted on your device: long-press any find to delete it (including its photo), use Settings > Clear Local Storage to wipe all progress and photos, or uninstall the app to remove everything. Because no data is held anywhere else, there is nothing further to request from us.

Children's Privacy

Detour is a general-audience game and is not directed specifically to children under 13. The app does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children. If you have a concern, contact us at puzzlethrone@gmail.com.
